Kathryn Richardson

Lead Interprofessional Educator

Kathryn or Kat as known to her colleague’s in DREEAM. 

Within her role as commercial education lead, Kat is responsible for working with our stakeholders to support & deliver commercial courses within our portfolio. Some of the courses available are; Minor Injuries, Suturing & Wound Management, V&C, ECG, Patient Assessment within different settings, Schools education, and Pre-hospital care. The course delivery varies from small group teaching, simulations and clinical skills to name just a few.

Kat studied at the University of Nottingham where she achieved her Diploma in Nursing. Kat began her career with NUH in 2001, during her time here she has worked mainly within the Maxillofacial & ED specialities. Kat has a very keen interest in minor injuries particularly in wound management & suturing, she enjoys spending her clinical time 'suture assessing' in ED theatre.

Her main achievement whilst being in DREEAM has been the development & launch of the ED Foundation Nurse Project, which was written and integrated with the RCN Emergency Nurse Competency Framework. Kat is now leading on a project with EMAS SP’s (Specialist Practitioners). The project aim is for pre-hospital wound management & suturing.

Outside of work Kat enjoys time with her family & is an avid tea drinker. She also loves Italian food!!
