Our Inter-professional Educators are healthcare professionals who combine working in clinical practice with training the next generation of professionals. The IPE role is the perfect way to continue working on the frontline, keeping up your clinical skills whilst also expanding your career portfolio by teaching part time too.
Overview
What does being an Inter-professional Educator involve?
As well as delivering our wide-ranging course portfolio, our educators also need to keep abreast of growing and emerging healthcare education techniques such as simulation-based education (SBE) and technology enhanced learning (TEL).
SBE is particularly useful in emergency and acute medicine where high level technical skills and, equally importantly, non-technical skills and emotional intelligence are required.
You will receive full support from our dedicated team of inter-professional educators and research nurses who will help and encourage you along your journey. You will also need to contribute to DREEAM’s ambitious course portfolio, by developing, innovating and delivering new courses as required.
What training do I get?
You will be developed as an educator through DREEAM’s 4-day Facilitating Education Course, underpinned by the Academy of Medical Educators (AOME) professional standards framework.
You will be expected to maintain an educational portfolio recording your development, including peer reviews, to discuss with your supervisor.
We also encourage staff to undertake further development through Educating Healthcare Professionals - FutureLearn, the Practice Teacher module at University of Derby or the MSc in Medical Education at University of Nottingham.
You will also get access to our elearning platform, allowing you to develop your skills at your own pace.
