Dr Beth Thompson

Clinical Psychologist, NUH

I’m a Clinical Psychologist at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) Trust. Since qualifying with a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology, I have worked predominantly in acute medical settings. One of my main roles since qualifying is within the emergency department at Queens Medical Centre, as a Clinical Psychologist in staff support. My role involves offering individual support to staff, designing and delivering teaching and training, and helping embed systemic intervention. This is all within the context of work-related stress, burnout, moral injury and responses to potentially traumatic events in ED.

I have publications in the psychological impact of physical health difficulties, and systemic intervention with staff groups supporting patients with mental health needs.

My current interests are in working with moral injury and psychological trauma in both patients and the healthcare workforce.
