This trial aimed to evaluate the clinical and cost-effectiveness of permissive hypotension (allowed low blood pressure). The trial ran on the Adult Intensive Care Unit (AICU), included patients with a type of hypotension that required vasopressor support (medication to increase blood pressure). There is low quality evidence and no guidance given on any upper limits. There is some emerging evidence to suggest permissive hypotension may increase survival in older critically ill adults. We are still awaiting the results.
