This study looks at the use of a FibroScan machine which can detect early signs of liver damage, to support patients who are identified in ED as being at high risk of harm from drinking alcohol. We would like to see if having a Fibroscan in ED in addition to the standard brief advice and information we give patients at high risk, will encourage people to access community alcohol treatment services. We will follow up patients who agree to the trial over the following 6 months to monitor their progress. This study has been developed in DREEAM in collaboration with the Hepatology service in NUH.
