Queens Medical Centre (QMC) Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is a regional centre for emergency and major trauma care. Our Emergency Department is one of the busiest in the country providing care for an average of 600 patients per day.

Central to our service are Nurses, Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), and non-registered staff including Clinical Support Workers (CSWs) and Emergency Department Assistants (EDAs)

Working alongside clinicians and other professional colleagues to ensure our patients receive high quality care which encompasses patient safety, clinical effectiveness and patient experience. There is now an increasing diversity of nursing, AHP and non-registered roles required in emergency care settings, demanding specialist and advanced skills and knowledge. Each brings a significant contribution to the multiprofessional team in the modern emergency care environment.

Joining the emergency department as a nurse means that you will join the faculty of emergency nursing programme. Throughout your time at ED you will also undertake the Emergency Care Skills Course (ECSC) which covers early assessment, minor injuries, suturing, critical care skills and leadership.

If you are joining us as a member of the non-registered workforce  you will also undertake an induction programme which includes a combination of theory and clinical shifts aligned to the care certificate.
